My name is Alison Lilly and I am the founder of LillyPuds. I have always been a foodie and after serving my Christmas pudding to family and friends for many years, I decided to bring my festive delight to market. My passion is to prepare simple dishes prepared well – flavoursome, uncomplicated and full of natural goodness.
So why is our pudding different? I developed the recipe by putting in more of the ingredients that I enjoy and less of the ingredients that simply bulk out the pudding mix and add no value! Just 5% sugar and 5% flour are added and there is no mixed peel or chopped nuts. Instead, zest and juice of orange and lemons are added together with ground almonds, fresh apple, apricots and ginger. The mix is then blended with local ales and brandy resulting in a pudding that is lighter and fresher on the palate – a perfect end to your Christmas meal.
Two varieties of pudding are produced, traditional and gluten free, and both are available in 3 sizes – 2 x 120g, 454g and 908g. The style of a LillyPuds Christmas pudding is very different from other Christmas ranges using nostalgic, rustic cartons and raffia to decorate the box. This makes a LillyPud perfect not just for the festive table but also as a perfect gift.
Following our launch in October 2015 and a wonderfully frantic Christmas, LillyPuds built on its initial success during 2016 which resulted in a trebling of our turnover. This year, LillyPuds is set to significantly increase this turnover as we gather momentum. Our traditional pudding won a Great Taste Award in 2016 and both pudding varieties scored 16 out of 20 in the Great British Food Awards 2017. In addition, the LillyPuds Gluten Free pudding was shortlisted in two categories at the 2017 Free From Awards earlier this year.
Our home is in East Anglia and our aspiration is to restore the faith in our Great British pudding. Enjoy and Merry Christmas!
